Focaccia Bread

Making a homemade bread is MISSION IMPOSSIBLE for me before this. I never imagine I could reach this stage but I DID IT today! Wasn’t that bad after all but kneading the bread does need lots of strength and perseverance though.

If may try the recipe below and not regret trying ^.-

INGREDIENTS

A

  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp yeast
  • 60ml water
B
  • 250g strong flour (high-protein flour)
  • 100ml water
C
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (you may use pure olive oil)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
D
  • Rosemary
E
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Balsamic Vinegar
  • Ground pepper

METHODS

  1. In a mixing bowl, dissolve sugar and yeast in water.
  2. Let the mixture stand until creamy and spongy for about 10 minutes.
  3. Add in flour and half portion of the water.
  4. KNEAD, KNEAD & KNEAD
  5. Add the balance of the water.
  6. KNEAD, KNEAD & KNEAD until the texture turn smooth. [The kneading action had to quick and consistent to avoid the dough stick to the surface.
  7. Place the dough in the mixing bowl and cover with damp cloth to let it rest. Place in warm place till the dough rise to almost double the size for about 30 minutes.
  8. Divide the dough into 2 parts and let it rest for a further 10 minutes.
  9. Roll each dough with the rolling pin into oval shape.
  10. Place them in the greased baking tray.
  11. Make small dimple on the bread using finger.
  12. Pour olive oil and brush them evenly across the surface of the dough.
  13. Spread salt evenly.
  14. Sprinkle rosemary across the surface evenly. If you like the fragrance, you may add more.
  15. Rest again till double the height.
  16. Finally—— bake Focaccia in preheated oven at 220c for 25-30 minutes depending on the crust level preferred.
  17. Mix E and served with the Yummy Focaccia Bread!
