Tuiles recipe is simple and awesome as it helps to clear the egg whites leftover from other bakes. It does not require mixer as you can just use egg beater to mix the batter.
Almond and Sunflower Seed Tuiles recipe is similar to Almond Tuiles Biscuit/Crisp recipe shared earlier. The only difference is the add-on sunflower seed. As I was baking, I enjoyed listening to my son’s piano practices, in the background…..so soothing.
I decided to do this as there were leftover egg whites from the Chinese New Year bakes yesterday.
For easy reference, I have copied here with the added Sunflower seed as the ingredient. Enjoy!
Ingredients
A
- 30g melted butter and cool to room temperature
B
- 60g egg whites
- 1/4 tsp vanilla essence
C
- 40g icing sugar
- 30g flour
D
- 15g almond flakes or as much as you like
- 15g sunflower seed (adjust to your preference)
- any add-on including assorted nuts
Methods
- Preheat oven at 170C.
- Melt butter and set aside to room temperature.
- Mix well melted butter, egg whites and vanilla essence (A + B) using egg beater. No mixer required! That’s the convenient of this recipe.
- Sift icing sugar and flour into the batter and mix well.
- Pour in the baking pan – best over silicon baking sheet, and glide through using any flat utensil or pan mee cutter to make a thin layer.
6. Sprinkle your desired D. For this case, almond and sunflower seed and ready to bake.
7. Bake for 20 minutes until all surface turned golden brown.
8. Note : If some are is still light brown, remove those with darker colour and pop the balance back into the oven.
9. Once out of the oven, it is still soft and you may slice with knife to the desired size as shown in the picture below. Once they cool down, they turned crispy and you may break the tuiles according to your desired size and shape.
10. Keep in airtight container and enjoy while during movie nights! Beware! they are very addictive, I would say!
