The name isn’t enticing at all but mind you the taste…. uhhh! Heavenly indeed! I still remember Baby A went for a birthday gathering at one of the cafe in Bangsar and takeaway a Burnt Cheesecake for hubby and me. I couldn’t get the taste out of my mind and had been searching for the recipe since. Overly excited, got myself a 2kg cream cheese block and it had been in the chiller for few weeks now….and finally, last week, it made the debut!
Ingredients
Ingredients are real simple – 5 items altogether!
- 5 eggs
- 500g cream cheese (prefer Philadephia)
- 150g caster sugar (to adjust accordingly to preference)
- 20g plain flour
- 250g whipping cream
Method
- Before we start to bake, let’s line up the baking pan with the parchment paper or baking paper.
- Beat the cream cheese till creamy. It’s so therapeutic to see the wave of cream while beating
- Add-in caster sugar or substitute and beat till well mixed.
- Add egg one at a time and lower the mixer speed to medium or level 3.
- Remember to scrap the side of mixing bowl to ensure the residual are mixed in as well.
- Add in the sieved flour follow by the whipping cream gradually.
- Pour the batter into the pan (7″)
- Pop the bubble, if any, with the spatula.
- Bake at 220C for 30 mins. Add in 5 minutes to obtain the top burnt colour!
- Refrigerate for 6 hours before serving.
Note: It’s ok that the cheesecake is wobbly when remove from oven.

Baby A.B.C. were all waiting to dive in to the cake and was disappointed that the most important part is to have it refrigerated before serving…..
Verdict time……. I’m so excited as all gathered around for the long awaiting piece of cheesecake! Hmmmmm….. didn’t really got the “heavenly” effect and I console myself that for first attempt, I did well as the feedback was “Not bad, mom!”
The next day, Baby A got up really late! When I offer the cheesecake, she said ” Just a small piece, mom. I may want to have sandwich later!” After the “small piece” request by Baby A, there’s still half left and I popped them back into the fridge. Then, I heard Baby A exclaimed, “Mom, the cheesecake taste better than yesterday!!!!”
Ahhhh! now i remember what my baking chef told me once, cheesecake taste better as it aged! Yeah!!!! I did it! Baby A love ’em!
That night, errrr….or rather, the next morning, around 12:30am, Baby C came in to give me a goodnite kiss….before she left the room, she said “Me and che che finished the cheesecake just now…..Goodnight!” OMG! I thought of having a piece for breakfast! Hahaha! Glad they like it! Hooray!
Happy trying! Worth the effort!
